George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a powerful political satire about revolution, power and the corruption of ideals. The story begins when the animals of Manor Farm rebel against their human owner, hoping to create a society where every animal can live freely and equally. At first, the revolution appears successful. The animals establish their own principles and work together towards a better future. Gradually, however, the pigs assume greater control over the farm. Promises are altered, history is rewritten and propaganda becomes a tool for protecting those in authority. The dream of equality slowly gives way to a new form of oppression. Through simple language and memorable animal characters, Orwell explores complex ideas about leadership, manipulation, political language and the dangers of unchecked power. The changing rules of the farm reveal how easily principles can be reshaped when people are unable or unwilling to challenge those governing them. Sharp, accessible and deeply unsettling, Animal Farm works both as a compelling story and as a broader warning about political corruption. Its themes of power, inequality and manipulation remain relevant far beyond the historical events that originally inspired the novel.
